The St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Homes Foundation is seeking an Executive Director responsible for providing a wide range of management and administrative support to the Chairperson and Board of Directors.

The St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Homes Foundation supports seniors, both at St. Andrew’s Home on Cavendish Boulevard and by assisting elderly Presbyterians to stay safer, more comfortable and more independent, wherever they live in the community.

Employment Status: Part-time, contract basis, 20-25 hours per week.

Able to work flexible hours.  Hourly salary with competitive pay.

Key Attributes and Skills:

  • Must have a heart for seniors.

  • Knowledge of churches and the health care system.

  • Be a self starter who can work independently.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, interpersonal and team building skills.

Key Responsibilities for the position:

  • Provide management and administrative support to the Chairman and Board of Directors.

  • Oversee the planning and coordination of on-going and new projects, and events.  Update task lists, project targets, measurements and outcomes on initiatives.

  • Coordinate executive communications.

  • Prepare for and take minutes of meetings.  Maintain the Foundation’s Minute Books and records.

  • Maintain up to date membership list on Sumac platform.

  • Update news about the Foundation, St. Andrew’s Home and the Seniors’ Support Program, monthly on website.

  • Review and approve all invoices for payment.  Receive and deposit donation cheques and issue charitable donation receipts.  Coordinate banking with the Foundation’s accountant.

  • Assist the Chairperson to encourage volunteers to participate in the work of the Foundation, become active on committees and the Board.

  • Maintain weekly contact with Chairperson of the Board.

Seniors’ Support Program (SSP):

  • Oversee the Program’s mission of helping Presbyterian seniors of the Montreal and area Presbytery to stay safe, comfortable and as independent as possible wherever they live.

  • Manage the Service Care Providers.

  • Organize promotional presentations for the Presbytery of Montreal, individual church groups, clergy and elders.

  • Prepare quarterly and yearly reports.

  • Develop communication for church bulletins.

  • Develop link from individual church websites to the SSP website for quick access to SSP information.

St. Andrew’s Home on Cavendish Boulevard:

  • Maintain an open relationship with residents, staff and volunteers.

  • Attend social functions and residents’ meetings to become knowledgeable of the Home and residents’ concerns or needs.

  • Be present in the Home a half-day per week.  

  • Report to the Board, on actions taken in the Home.

  • Coordinate all aspects of the identified “wish-list”.  Follow through on purchases and implementation of decisions for the Home.

  • Prepare two newsletters yearly  - Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer.

This position requires strong communication/marketing skills to:

  • Connect the Friends of St. Andrew’s Seniors to the work of the Foundation through mailings and by drawing them to the Foundation’s website.

  • Continually update the website – linking the community to the site.

  • Solicit donations and bequests.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree preferred.

  • Bilingualism an asset.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent and empathetic communication skills.
